How assets are checked
Every asset in the archive, ours or contributed, passes the same checks before it is listed.
1. NVIDIA SimReady
The asset must pass NVIDIA's validator with the Robotics-Prop profile, version 4.0.0:
simready-validate --profile Robotics-Prop --version 4.0.0 sm_<asset>_01.usd
That profile covers valid OpenUSD (meters, Z up, a default prim), rigid-body physics, collision, materials (UsdPreviewSurface), semantic labels with a Wikidata identifier, a self-contained package, and a thumbnail. The package layout follows NVIDIA's own SimReady assets: <asset>/simready_usd/sm_<asset>_01.usd, with textures and thumbnails beside it.
2. Physics
- Mass. Mass must be present and plausible. The density implied by mass and closed volume must fall between 50 and 25,000 kg/m³.
- Collision. Collision geometry must be present and close to the visible shape.
- Drop test. The object is dropped onto a plane in simulation and must come to rest, without exploding or falling through.
- Joints. Articulated objects have joints with real limits.
Physics that matches the object
Each asset is simulated the way the real object behaves: - Rigid: solid objects such as mugs, plates, bottles and tools. One rigid body with collision; NVIDIA Robotics-Prop validated. - Articulated: anything with parts that move in real life. Doors and drawers open, lids lift, and joints have real limits and graspable handles. Every joint is swept open and closed in simulation without parts colliding or flying apart. NVIDIA Robotics-Prop validated, including multi-body physics. - Deformable: textiles and soft objects such as towels, garments, pillows and bags, simulated as cloth or soft bodies, never as rigid shells. NVIDIA's SimReady profiles do not cover deformables yet, so these assets pass the SimReady Core and Minimal requirements plus Outworld's cloth simulation test, and are labelled as such.
3. Size and identity
- Size. The bounding box must be between 5 mm and 5 m and plausible for what the object is.
- Label. Each asset has a semantic label and a Wikidata entry, looked up and never invented.
4. Content
The object is rendered from eight views and reviewed: - no logos, brand marks or text; - not a copy of a named commercial product; - a coherent, real-looking object.
Contributed assets are then reviewed by a person before they appear.
Provenance
Every listing states how the asset was made. The launch set contains only geometry that Outworld authored. No asset contains meshes from third-party generative 3D models whose terms restrict reuse.
